Varieties

85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, the result of a selection of 35 and 40-year-old strains of the “El Rincón” Payment.

Vineyard

“Pago El Rincón” - a plot of 5.34 hectares - located in the southern area of our “Viña Lanciano” farm (El Cortijo - Rioja Alta) next to the mount “El Rincón”. Altitude of 491 meters with orography of slight slope. North - South orientation with slight inclination Northwest - Southwest. Traditional Rioja 3-arm glass with 5 thumbs of 2 yolks. Yield of 3,500 kg / ha.

Elaboration

Manual harvest in small baskets and subsequent selection by cluster and grain on tables, so that only those grains that are in perfect condition go to the next stage of elaboration.

Malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels that ended in the spring of the following year. During the period between alcoholic and malolactic fermentation their lees were removed weekly to achieve a greater volume in the mouth, getting a more silky and friendly wine.

Breeding

For 8 months in French oak barrels from the Jupille and Troncaise forests followed by 5 months in the New Caucasus oak. It came without clarifying and without filtering, having produced these processes naturally over time by sedimentation and natural decantation in the barrel.

CATA's notes

Mature cherry color, very covered and bright. Very intense aromas where ripe black fruit predominates (plum, blackberry, blackcurrant) almost candied. Souvenirs of cocoa and toffee, black tobacco and spices, as well as mineral touches whose characteristic is common to all the wines that come from the “Viña Lanciano” estate. The entrance in the mouth is warm and velvety. It is round, mature, with a great tannic load while elegant. Long and harmonious aftertaste. It is a wine with character, of great personality, faithful reflection of the land from which it comes.
