From a few specimens of Spanish oak (Quercus pyrenaica), selected one by one thanks to their exceptional size and with a clean trunk of branches and knots of at least 7 meters, come the barrels in which we make this wine. A commitment to innovation in aging, which seeks the perfect balance between fruit and wood.
LAN 7 Meters is the ideal companion for red meats, smoked meats, spicy dishes and soft cheeses.
We suggest serving it between 17 and 19º C, to enjoy it fully.
Coming from a selection of vines from the 35-year-old plot Los Valles (1.6 ha), located in El Cortijo (Rioja Alta), and the 40-year-old plot Carrayecora (2.7 ha), located in Viñaspre (Rioja Alavesa ).
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with very little mechanical extraction, so that the color and aromas were extracted naturally throughout the fermentation and, in this way, only ripe and silky tannins were obtained.
The malolactic fermentation was carried out very slowly, with which a very good stabilization of the color and aromas was achieved. This process concluded in December 2016.
The Spanish oak (Quercus pyrenaica) comes from forests located in the provinces of Burgos and León. Among all of them, only a few specimens reach the minimum height of 7 meters to be able to transform them into barrels.
Aging for 16 months in 30 selected barrels, with two intermediate racking at 4 and 11 months of aging. Aged in bottle for 14 months.
Intense red color with medium high layer. Penetrating aromas of red fruit in liquor, integrated with the balsamic character provided by the Spanish oak, as well as hints of mint, cedar and fresh herbs on a background of undergrowth and resin that become even more palpable as it passes through the mouth. Presence of ripe tannins and a fine touch with a subtle hint of toffee caramel. A wide, enveloping and pleasant wine.
