The Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva, from a special selection of vines in Rioja Alta between 65 and 85 years old. Deep colour with slightly brick-red edges. A very complex bouquet with fine balsamic and wood notes. A broad palate with a background of ripe plum, sweet spices and roasted notes.

VINEYARDS-YIELDS

Special selection of vines in Rioja Alta, aged between 65 and 85 years. Very low yields due to the low vigour and age of the vines, ranging between 3,000 and 4,500 kg/ha. Mainly Tempranillo, from vineyards at various altitudes (from 400 to 620 metres) in Cenicero, Elciego and Laguardia, which gives it complexity.

Garnacha Tinta comes specifically from vineyards in Rioja Alta, from high and late plots, in order to achieve finesse and freshness as well as structure. Graciano is mainly harvested in Elciego, where we achieve that unique character of delicacy, acidity, liveliness and colour.

SOILS

Mostly clayey-calcareous.

DOMINANT CLIMATE

Atlantic, temperate type, with distinct seasons.

VINTAGE

Completely manual, deciding the dates rigorously according to the ripeness of each plot, the municipality and the variety.

VINIFICATION

Alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. Long maceration with the skins but without astringency, in order to extract more colour, aromas and tannic structure. Malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, all the wines are transferred to barrels and racked every 6 months.

TOTAL STAY IN BARREL

From 24 to 26 months, depending on the origin of the vineyard and the batches of barrels. New and second-wine French oak barrels.

BOTTLE-FINED

Minimum 4 years before the release date.
