The Marqués de Riscal Reservas are basically made from grapes from Tempranillo vines planted before the 1970s, located in the best calcareous clay soils of the Rioja Alavesa.

The Marqués de Riscal Reservas are basically made from Tempranillo grapes planted before the 1970s, located in the best calcareous clay soils of Rioja Alavesa. This variety tolerates ageing in wood and ageing in the bottle well thanks to its good acid balance and fine tannins. The Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, whose percentage in the blend does not exceed 10%, provide freshness and vivid colour. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26ºC with a maceration time of no more than 12 days. Riscal's Reservas remain in American oak barrels for approximately two years, creating a wine that fits within the canons of Rioja classicism: fresh, fine, elegant and with great ageing potential. Before being released to the market, it undergoes a minimum refinement period in the bottle of one year.

Taste attributes

A fairly dark cherry-coloured wine. Balsamic and spicy aroma of great complexity, with notes of ripe black fruit and slightly toasted notes. On the palate it has good structure, is tasty, dense and with round and elegant tannins. The finish is long and fresh, with a slight hint of oak wood.
