Lan 7 Meters Crianza Red Rioja

LAN 7 Metros is a 100% Tempranillo from a selection of plots close to our Viña Lanciano estate. It is aged in Spanish oak barrels (Quercus pyneraica) for 18 months, with two rackings in between. It is then aged in the bottle for 12 months.

The barrels in which we make this wine come from a few specimens of Spanish oak (Quercus pyrenaica), selected one by one for their exceptional size and with a trunk free of branches and knots of at least 7 metres. A commitment to innovation in ageing, which seeks the perfect balance between fruit and wood.

LAN 7 Meters is the ideal companion for red meats, smoked meats, spicy dishes and soft cheeses.
We suggest serving it between 17 and 19º C, to fully enjoy it.

VARIETIES
100% Tempranillo.

VINEYARD
From a selection of vines from the 35-year-old Los Valles plot (1.6 ha), located in El Cortijo (Rioja Alta), and the 40-year-old Carrayecora plot (2.7 ha), located in Viñaspre (Rioja Alavesa).

ELABORATION
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with very little mechanical extraction, so that the colour and aromas were extracted naturally throughout the fermentation and, in this way, only mature and silky tannins were obtained.

The malolactic fermentation was carried out very slowly, which resulted in a very good stabilisation of colour and aromas. This process was concluded in December 2016.

BREEDING
Spanish oak (Quercus pyrenaica) comes from forests located in the provinces of Burgos and León. Of all these, only a few specimens reach the minimum height of 7 metres to be able to be transformed into barrels.

Aged for 16 months in 30 selected barrels, with two intermediate rackings at 4 and 11 months of aging. Refined in bottle for 14 months.

TASTING NOTES
Deep red colour with a medium-high layer. Penetrating aromas of red fruit in liqueur, integrated with the balsamic character provided by the Spanish oak, as well as hints of mint, cedar and fresh herbs on a background of undergrowth and resin that become even more palpable as it passes through the mouth. Presence of ripe tannins and a fine touch with a subtle hint of toffee caramel. A broad, enveloping and pleasant wine.
