- Grape varieties: 80% Tempranillo, 6% Mazuelo, 12% Graciano, 2% Garnacha.
- Barrel Aging Period: 18 months in American Oak Barrels (225L).
- Service Temperature: 15-16ºC.

Intense cherry color, bright, garnet rim and high robe. On the nose it recalls echoes of healthy and ripe red fruit in perfect maturation, ripe plum, spicy notes (liquorice, vanilla), violet, balsamic that provide a lot of freshness, all in a perfect balance with subtle toasted notes from its aging in the barrel.
As it passes through the palate, it is round, fine, with subtle opulence, well-wrapped friendly tannins, perfect acidity, good balance, persistent and with a tasty and long finish.

These grapes require that you work hard in the winery and that all the good things in them be extracted. This wine is made from parcel in French oak vats and has a capacity of 50 hl. The maximum fermentation temperature can reach 28-29ºC and the vinification process can last 30 days. The handling of the hat is an artisan job, based on punching and gentle pumping over. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels.
In Marqués de Riscal, there were cellar wines, within its Historical Reserve, such as the Medoc Reserve and the XR without becoming commercial names. In the style of Jerez foremen, the winemaker marked some of his barrels with a chalk with the word XR, having found some special characteristics that were not found in others.
