In 2006 the Elciego wineries were transformed into the Wine City, a complex that includes the primary wineries, the most modern ones, the vineyards and a leisure complex in which the Hotel Marqués de Riscal is framed, an emblematic building designed by the architect Frank Gehry and inaugurated by King Juan Carlos I.2
Since its origin in the s. XIX, Marqués de Riscal has produced Rioja wine, but in 1972 he also settled in Rueda (Valladolid) to produce white wine that in 1980 would receive the designation of origin for Rueda wine.3
