In 2006 the Elciego wineries were transformed into the Wine City, a complex that includes the primary wineries, the most modern ones, the vineyards and a leisure complex in which the Hotel Marqués de Riscal is framed, an emblematic building designed by the architect Frank Gehry and inaugurated by King Juan Carlos I.2
Since its origin in the s. XIX, Marqués de Riscal has produced Rioja wine, but in 1972 he also settled in Rueda (Valladolid) to produce white wine that in 1980 would receive the designation of origin for Rueda wine.3
Pale pink, bright and lively wine. On the nose it presents intense aromas of strawberry and raspberry, with some floral notes. In the mouth it is fresh, glyceric and balanced, with a finish full of pleasant acid sensations.
Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal SL has 220 hectares of vineyards with an average of 25 years, dedicated, among others, to the planting of the native Verdejo variety. From the effort and dedication Marqués de Riscal Verdejo 2019 DO Rueda was born.
Marqués de Riscal 150 Aniversario 2010 is a very dark cherry colored wine. It has a roasted, balsamic, complex aroma with spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon. The palate is fatty, well structured, with a great tannic concentration, round and with a long and silky finish.
In the elaboration of the great reserves, Riscal uses grapes from old vines of more than 80 years, from own productions or acquired from fixed local winegrowers. Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva is undoubtedly one of the great wines of the DO Rioja.

The Marqués de Riscal Verdejo 2019 DO Rueda is a bright straw yellow wine. As corresponds to the Verdejo variety, on the nose it has a high aromatic intensity, with aromas of tropical fruits as well as fennel and fresh grass notes.
In Marqués de Riscal, there were cellar wines, within its Historical Reserve, such as the Medoc Reserve and the XR without becoming commercial names. In the style of Jerez foremen, the winemaker marked some of his barrels with a chalk with the word XR, having found some special characteristics that were not found in others.
The Riscal reserves remain for approximately two years in American oak barrels, configuring a wine that falls within the canons of Riojan classicism, fresh, fine, elegant and with great aging potential. Before going to market it has a minimum period of refinement in the bottle of one year.
Arienzo 2017 is the first Marqués de Riscal Zone Wine since it is made 100% with selected grapes of the Tempranillo and Graciano varieties from vineyards located in Rioja Alavesa.
